Beaches :
Goa's prime attractions to tourists is it's 106 km. long
palm fringed coast line. All beaches, unbroken for several
kilometers, have fine stretches of sand.
North Goa Beaches
1. Calangute - This beach is
located about 16 kms. North of Panaji. It is Goa's most crowded
beach, with all kinds of eating joints from beach snacks to
restaurants.
2. Vagator - It is one of the
most beautiful and interesting parts of Goa's coastline. It
comprises of two sandy bays.
3. Anjuna Beach - It is famous
for it's weekly flea market held every Wednesday. It consists
of two distinct areas - main beach front and the area where
the flea market is held.
4. Dona Paula - It is 7 km.
from Panaji, on the northern bank of river Zuari. The bay
of Dona Paula fans large basins at the mouth of River Zuari
and thus offers ample opportunities for water sports like
boating, para sailing, yachting, swimming and fishing.
South Goa Beaches
1. Colva - It is 8 kms. From
Margao. This is the most crowded beach of south Goa with a
number of beach shacks and restaurants along it's shores.
In September Colva celebrates "The Fama" fest of
the infant Jesus of Prague, where a fair gathers on the occasion.
2. Palolem - It is about 37
kms. South of margao. It is a C-shaped beach with a backdrop
of the Western ghats. The hilly end of the beach gets submerged
at high tide, giving the impression of an island in the middle
of a calm region.
